Applying to international universities

Thinking about studying abroad? Well, if you’re in high school, you may want to consider applying to international universities. You’ll gain valuable insight and exposure to other cultures through your host country as well as fellow students.

Interacting with different cultures, languages, and perspectives can enrich your personal and academic growth. It can also enhance your intercultural competence and global awareness.

Access to high-quality education, research, and innovation that may be found at campuses in other countries improves your knowledge, skills, and employability. You’ll be better prepared for the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century.

Who can pass up a valuable opportunity to explore new places, experiences, and activities all while earning an academic degree? You’ll be sure to broaden your horizons, spark your curiosity, and make your student life more enjoyable and memorable.

When you’re thinking about where to apply:

•  Do your research. Use existing websites, brochures, rankings, reviews, and testimonials to learn more about the universities you are interested in. Read up about courses, fees, scholarships, facilities, and services offered by the universities both on their websites and published by independent or governmental review bodies.

•  Compare your options. Note down your academic interests, goals, budget, preferences, and eligibility, to compare and evaluate the universities you are interested in. You can also use internal tools such as compare_universities to get some comparison results between two colleges, including admission requirements, tuition fees, ranking, reputation, and student satisfaction.

•  Contact universities and alumni. You can reach out via email, phone, chat or social media, to contact universities you are interested in. You can ask them any questions you may have, such as the application process, deadlines, documents, visa, accommodation, and orientation. You can also request them to send you more information, such as brochures, catalogs, or newsletters, or to invite you to online events, such as webinars, workshops, or fairs. Universities often have an alumni network or international admissions ambassadors you can reach out to with questions about their experience on campus.

•  Apply within deadlines. Follow instructions and guidelines provided by your universities of choice, and submit all the required documents, such as transcripts, certificates, test scores, essays, and recommendations well within their deadlines to reduce eleventh-hour anxiety. You should also check the status of your application regularly and respond to any requests or feedback from the universities.

•  Think about housing and other essentials. You can use various factors, such as your intuition, feelings, and priorities, to choose the university that is best for you. You should also consider the acceptance rate, cost, and location of the university, and weigh the pros and cons of each option. You should also think about your living situation, what you feel comfortable with, and the safety of the neighborhood and environment.
